I GOT IT FROM MY MAMA

Generally I am quite the tough nut, and proudly so. But give me a heartfelt message on the subject of love — specifically that between a mother and child — and feature (page 78), where six of our favourite and most fashionable NZ duos speak of their unique bonds and how their love has shaped them into the people they are today. Whether yours is one of love and laughter or fraught with issues, it’s hard to deny the significance the relationship with our mothers has on us as adults. My mother’s love of NZ fashion and magazines ultimately led me to a career in the fashion media, and I often wonder how my love of style will influence my son Paddy in his life and on his career path. On the topic of careers, this time of year we’re often dreaming of making a change or taking a punt and pursuing a different passion. In (page 56), three inspiring women share stories of their ‘career 180s’, and how they did just that. Of course, if the only thing weighing on your mind as you gear up for that well-deserved Christmas break is finding the perfect swimsuit, look no further than our five-page swimwear edit on page 42. You’ll find me in a sun safe, long-sleeved one-piece that I’m thrilled to see has become a mainstay style and not just an option for toddlers. Lastly, if you want to get your body beach-ready in luxury surrounds, our exploration of premium fitness studios in (page 168) is a great place to start. I hope you get to read this issue relaxing in the sun, and have a happy, joy-filled Christmas and New Year.
