NS Harsha: Gathering Delights

The monumental “Gathering Delights” at the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile (CHAT) will be Indian artist NS Harsha’s largest solo exhibition to date. Curated by Takahashi Mizuki, the show features a broad spectrum of the artist’s work from the past two decades, (2007–17), composed of 193 national flags draped on sewing machines; and the site-specific (2010/19), featuring a mirrored ceiling that reflects the artist’s illustrations of people on the floor below. Together with India’s Kracadawna Organic Farm, Harsha will also temporarily convert the former cotton-spinning mill’s main hall into a lush garden, where visitors can learn about organic farming and natural dyes, in a bid to raise awareness around communal living and sustainability, two themes recurring in the artist’s practice.
