Monster Reds And Rusa
TED Mitchell Snr and his mate Scott hunted a marvellous target-rich environment in North Queensland.
It was may 2018 and my son and I were booked in June to hunt red deer and rusa in a spot that held great trophy class game. Unfortunately a phone call from the outfitter put a stop to that, as he said that there were no red deer there worth even looking at, as all the big ones had disappeared after a few shots had been fired in April. Could we please book in for the following year? It was a real let down as the thought of going on a hunt for some of the big red deer that come into that area, had had me “more toe-y than a Roman sandal”.
Roll on 2019 and once again we were both booked in, but for different times, as my lad was going after rusa in June with his bow, but with me wanting a chance at a red stag, Greg had booked me in for early April during the rut, when hopefully some large stags would move in. My good friend Scott booked in to come with me, as he wanted to have a crack at a red stag too. Early April
