    The ship

    This 914-ton yacht was launched in 1926 by the Ramages and Ferguson shipbuilders from Leith for Steam Yacht Ltd. of London. She was the fifth ship to bear the name, Eros. She was loaned to Baron Henri de Rothchild and le Havre became her home port.

    Powered by two diesel engines, her speed could reach 14 knots. This comfortable, 189-foot-long
