Back in 1960, it took Sir Peter Snell just one minute and 46 seconds to run his way to Olympic history and into the hearts of New Zealanders.
Four years after winning gold in the 800m at the Rome Olympics, he cemented his status as a sporting icon by winning both the 800m and the 1500m at the Tokyo Olympics.
It was three from three – he only ever entered three Olympic events, and he won all of them.
