Completing THE CIRCLE

For many couples, swapping city living for the countryside is a big step, and permanent. Yet Jo and Julian Hamilton, who moved to Hampshire 20 years ago, recently performed a remarkable volte-face. “We’d kept a small flat in Chelsea,” Jo says. “But our four adult children, plus grandchildren, were all in London.” They decided to sell their country house and invest in an elegant, four-storey home on a leafy West London street.

“It provided somewhere lovely to live, large enough for the whole family to gather, but with access
