A culinary JOURNEY
A lifetime of European holidays has taught Sally de Villiers a deep appreciation of good food. Producing her own cookbook seemed like the logical next step for this Hout Bay writer and drama teacher. “I wanted to tell a story and marry my love of food and travel.”
Her foray into the world of publishing was based on the old-fashioned habit of keeping a journal. “Since 1989 when my husband Noel and I backpacked through Europe for the first time, I’ve kept a diary detailing what we bought, what we ate and where,” she says.
Sally’s book, , is filled with wonderfully observed vignettes of tavernas by the sea, squid hanging to dry in the sun and boats bobbing in quiet harbours.
