A neglected steel-and-recycled-wood shelf unit was rescued from a second-hand store by Ilze and Johann Niehaus of Pretoria. They removed a bit of rust from the steel with sandpaper and then applied a primer followed by matte black enamel paint. The wooden shelves were sanded and sealed with Dulux Woodgard Rubbol.
