A Time of Rest

The clock glows 7 a.m., but the cold darkness makes it feel more like 4 a.m. It’s the middle of winter in southern Ontario, and although we have it better than most across the country, it still often dips to –20°C (–4°F) with the wind chill. Right now, we’re stuck in another extreme-cold weather warning, and that makes chores around the farm unpleasant. But the animals on our homestead need us, and that’s what motivates us to throw the duvet covers back and slink out of our warm and cozy bed.
