I WANT TO BREAK FREE

The Breaksafe breakaway system is a safety device required by law to be fitted to any towed caravan/trailer over 2000kg GTM, and is designed to apply the trailer brakes and brake lights if the caravan/trailer is accidentally separated from the tow vehicle. If your caravan/trailer becomes uncoupled while being towed, the electric brakes are activated at full power for a minimum of 15 minutes.

A small battery-powered unit is mounted on the caravan/trailer and connected to the tow vehicle with a metal cord, and a breakaway switch with a pin is mounted to the A-frame of the caravan/trailer. The pin is pulled from the switch if the caravan/trailer uncouples from the tow vehicle, and this engages the electric brakes and brake lights.

The breakaway system also has a built-in battery that can be charged from the tow vehicle's auxiliary
