POCO DESIGNS’ Poppy and Charlotte O’Neill created a luxe, bespoke feel for this Sydney apartment. pocodesigns.com.au
PO: The client had recently bought the apartment and wanted Originally, there was a dividing wall between the kitchen and living area which affected the flow. We wanted to embrace the interconnecting layout and ensure that each space had its own identity while feeling connected to the surrounding rooms. We concentrated on intricate details to ensure that we turned any design constraints into a positive. It has a contemporary and dramatic feel which is balanced by natural materials and textures. The scheme highlights a balance between old and new, masculinity and femininity. We embraced the use of natural materials and vintage furnishings, paired with contemporary architectural elements. The bathroom interiors certainly stand out. We had an opportunity to design four unique bathrooms which all embody a sense of drama and individuality. First impressions count so we created an entry lift lobby which would set the tone, featuring Hervé Van der Straeten furnishings and a curved gold leaf ceiling. The client has a great appreciation for craftsmanship and we sourced furniture from all over the world. Lighting was very important and we chose Lindsey Adelman pendants and the ‘Lariat’ by Apparatus to complete the aesthetic. We customised most of the furniture to maximise the space. They love the renovation and the way we captured their design aesthetic in hand-crafted furnishings and luxe fittings.
