Although late summer and early autumn are not shaping up as exciting months for visual comet observers, the winter will have the long-period C/2017 T2 (PANSTARRS) creeping above the northern horizon at about magnitude 9 during the evening hours from late June and 2P/Encke emerging from the evening twilight during the first half of July. The most favourable object will likely be 88P/ Howell, which should come within the range of larger scopes during the winter and will be well-placed in the evening skies and probably magnitude 9 or a little brighter as winter merges into spring.
