WORLD ARABIAN HORSE RACING FORUM
I had the good fortune to be able to kill several birds with one stone in Romania earlier this summer! Firstly, being invited to judge at the second, very enjoyable Arabian show in Sibiu, the 2007 European Capital of Culture, which is also rated 8th on Forbes list of the most idyllic place to live in Europe! The show was organized by untiring Marius Dumitrescu to encourage the breeding and owning of Arabians in the country. This was followed by a brief visit to Radautz to see its historical Shagya Arabian Stud, which with Babolna, was this breed’s birthplace in the early 19th century. Romania is a beautiful country with a fascinating history, which is rapidly finding its feet in the European Union and reviving its equestrian past. It is well worth a visit.
