Savouring the sights and sounds of nature is one of life’s simple pleasures. Hearing birdsong on the wind, birds and butterflies flitting overhead, the soothing hum of bees and the unexpected sound of the occasional frog or snuffling hedgehog awakens the senses, calms the mind and – as some experts claim – lowers the heart rate. But besides enhancing our personal well-being there are other reasons to welcome wildlife into our gardens.
