Anthony’s Chophouse

STEAKHOUSE A large set of doors marked with a scripty “A” welcome diners to this swanky heavy hitter along Carmel’s bustling Main Street. The interior has the polished gleam of a brand-new Vegas hotel, with an upper-level lounge containing the salvaged mahogany bar from The Glass Chimney, a local fine-dining legend. The food at Anthony’s has just as much flourish. Lobster bisque containing a hunk of tempura-fried meat and a wedge salad with all the frills head up a meal that might include a bone-in cowgirl ribeye or a flight of filets. Black-suited servers and well-composed cocktails (including one with a smoking sprig of rosemary) keep the high-dollar meal running smoothly. Dinner Mon.–Sat. 201 W. Main St., Carmel, 317-740-0900, anthonyschophouse.com

Auberge

FRENCH Classic French dishes such as salade Lyonnaise and boeuf bourguignon share the spotlight with more contemporary twists like burrata and scallops with peas and carrots at this darling lobby restaurant at the historic Brick Street Inn in downtown Zionsville. An in-house crème brûlée is the best dessert alongside treats from My Sugar Pie and Circle City Sweets. Weekend brunch departs from Julia Child’s playlist to such modern fare as breakfast burgers and hummingbird pancakes. Dinner Tues.–Sat., brunch Sat.–Sun. 175 S. Main St., Zionsville, 317-733-8755, auberge-restaurant.com

Chao Vietnamese Street Food

Sourcing the beef and pork for its noodle bowls, tacos, and pho from Indiana’s own Fischer Farms, this strip-mall eatery delivers surprisingly fresh, flavorful dishes that stand out among Indy’s growing Vietnamese options. Fresh shrimp spring rolls come with a rich and complex dipping sauce, and a bracing green papaya salad is refreshing. Delectable pork-belly tacos are highlights among the lighter choices. A full list of coffees, bubble teas, and unusual bubble waffles make this a great place to bring the family for an intro
