I lived with cancer long before my own diagnosis. My mum had breast cancer when I was pregnant with my son Ollie. When Ollie was only 10 years old, my husband Bruce died of oesophageal cancer.
Two years later, I noticed a lump in my breast while in the shower. I was referred for a mammogram and scans, which led to 25 different – and very painful – biopsies from my left breast on the same day.
