On the face of it, Laser Tools Racing’s decision to ditch its Mercedes-Benz A-Class halfway through the 2019 British Touring Car Championship was an odd one.
Driver Aiden Moffat’s team parked its German hatchback and, instead, wheeled out a five-year-old design in the Infiniti Q50 for the Scottish racer to complete the remainder of the campaign.
The results with the Merc, which itself was not the freshest design on the grid, had not been what Moffat had wanted.
