The Australian government is working alongside scientists to help wildlife recover from habitat loss after massive bushfires burned tens of millions of acres of land and killed an estimated 1 billion animals.
Over the course of about six months, 33 people died as a result of the fires, and from the Australia Institute found 57% of Australians were directly impacted. On top of the human impact, the government identified that will need “urgent help” recovering from the fires.
