Hornby 2-HIL hybrid EMU

ENEMY action saw a number of vehicles from 2-BIL and the later steel-panelled 2-HAL units destroyed during the Second World War, resulting in some reformations and the building of HAL vehicles as replacements for missing 2-BIL vehicles after the war.

Units were disbanded for operational reasons too. Collision damage also resulted in the formation of hybrid units which was the fate of two units whose surviving trailers were used to create 2-HIL No. 2611, a temporary formation which lasted nearly 18 months.
