Our memory can let us down at the most inconvenient of times (as you’ll know if you’ve ever forgotten someone’s name, or misplaced your car keys when you’re in a rush). However, the pressures of modern life mean our minds are more at risk than ever. “Many of us consume too much sugar and refined carbohydrates, and neglect the consumption of essential fats,” says Clare Daley, nutritional therapist at Cytoplan. Coupled with lack of quality sleep, exercise and the stresses of 21st century living, it can result in cognitive decline. “Brain fog, poor memory, anxiety, low mood, stress and bad concentration are all warning signs,” warns Clare. “What’s more, while diseases like dementia are often diagnosed in 70 and 80 year-olds, the processes that eventually result in dementia occur much earlier – in our thirties and forties.” But it’s not too
