ENTER GORDON CASTLE’S WALLED garden, and the vista that opens up before you will take your breath away. This is a vast space, eight acres in all, and it is a shining example of immaculate kitchen gardening, filled with a wealth of cutting-garden flowers and herbs. At its heart, waves of lavender surround a dipping pond, while on the edge, fruit trees fan out against aged brick walls.

From an area that five years ago grew only hay, Angus and Zara Gordon Lennox have made a brand new productive garden that has put their corner of north-east Scotland firmly on the horticultural map.
