Quilters Companion

Jungle Rhythm

"My first project in Quilters Companion was String Pieced Star wallhanging, way back in issue 32. I have been lucky enough to have had 15 projects featured in QC, with three on the cover, and I’ve made two DVDs for the magazine. I’m so honoured to be included in QC’s 100th edition. In this day and age in publishing it’s a real feat to reach 100 issues, let alone still be in existence! That’s a testament to the magazine’s presentation and content, both of which are top-notch. The magazine is always looking for new content and contributors, staying up-to-date with all that’s happening in the quilting world."

Chris Jurd

Chris’ quilt features piecing, fussy cutting, a little appliqué and — her signature technique — foundation piecing. The background square fabric was too dramatic to cut up so it stayed as is, and the star fabric called out for some fussy cutting. One of Chris’ favourite block styles is the twelve-pointed star; she has placed this at the centre of the medallion and with the use of modern fabrics, a traditional medallion quilt has become a striking modern beauty!
