If you want to grow a veg that can be used for salads, as a cut-and-come-again vegetable, can be harvested in as little as 10-12 weeks, can be used as a replacement for spinach and can last through the winter while it produces beautifully coloured stems, you can’t go wrong with chard! A relative of beetroot and in the same family (Beta vulgaris), chard always seems easier to grow and it has the benefit of lasting through the winter, especially if you give plants a little protection from the elements and pests.
