Celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti mulled defending brothers involved in allegedly staged attack on Jussie Smollett

CHICAGO - Embattled celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti was in close contact with State's Attorney Kim Foxx in the lead-up to R&B singer R. Kelly's indictment - and a short time later he also mulled getting involved in Cook County's other hot-button case, the prosecution of Jussie Smollett, newly released texts show.

Foxx went so far as to secure a private office at O'Hare International Airport to meet with Avenatti while he was in Chicago on a layover, and Avenatti reached out to her directly
