KITCHENS

A MODERN MASTERPIECE

“Successfully combining subtle contemporary design elements with high-specification materials, this renovation is a perfect example of modern and understated luxury. As this kitchen is the dominant design element of the property’s entire living space, it was important that the aesthetics were proportional, contemporary and luxurious while achieving effective functionality and storage placement. The client brief was to design a sophisticated kitchen and study nook that would complement the contemporary architectural details as well as an open-plan layout connecting with the outside space. The cabinetry in Dulux Natural White provides a diff used warm glow to the light-filled area, while the splashback window is magnificently amplified by the mirror adjacent, maximising surrounding garden views. Handleless finger-pull drawers are set flush against the thin and ultra-durable Dekton benchtops and bifold overheads with recessed finger pulls, while LED strip lights complement the sleek minimal lines throughout. With the inclusion of luxurious finishes such as integrated appliances, an induction cooktop and glass-fronted wine fridge, this kitchen is of the utmost sophistication and style.”

We love the backlit New York marble barback — a dramatic fi nish against the minimalist design.

BOLD REFINEMENT

“This kitchen renovation was part of a massive-scale home redesign that included an outdoor kitchen, cellar and fireplace. It has transformed from an outdated early-'90s kitchen with little storage to a space that’s twice the size with more than 20 drawers. The owners requested a modern minimalist design and included the feature backlit New York marble for its dramatic vein structure and monochromatic colour. The island is beautifully impactful against the understated kitchen and contrasts with the muted colour palette and streamlined finishes. Due to the extensive redesign of the house, the space and layout could be adapted to the new structure and the result is a much bigger kitchen with a practical layout. The walk-in butler’s pantry complete with sink and dishwasher includes extra storage and preparation room and the kitchen is fitted out with Miele appliances — perfect for the avid cook.”

A POP OF COLOUR

“This vibrant kitchen has been updated to create an inviting open-plan living/dining space with eye-catching details. The previous outdated design was a small, closed-off square that effectively separated whoever was cooking from the entertaining space. Several internal walls were knocked down to incorporate the kitchen into the indoor/outdoor design, as well as improve the functionality of the adjoining dining and lounge areas. The new galley-style kitchen features increased bench and storage space with the connecting laundry area utilised to incorporate a butler’s pantry. The contrasting tones of the Caesarstone Vanilla Noir benchtop, deep-red splashback and white gloss cabinets beautifully harmonise without appearing overly dramatic. A true wine lover’s dream, in addition to a Vintec dual-z one storage cabinet, a spotted gum feature cabinet makes an attractive display for fine wines and unique bottles. Its light timber finish complements the earthy colours in the dining area, further unifying the rooms. Now the kitchen not only blends seamlessly into its surroundings, it also transforms the entire space into a welcoming, tasteful area perfect for socialising and family interaction.”

We love the deep-red splashback, which complements the winelover feel of the space.

LIGHT AND INDUSTRIAL

“Industrial style does not have to mean cold or cluttered and this new-build kitchen is the perfect example of that. A lowlight window has been incorporated to let in the leafy green outlook, balancing off the opposite side of the dining area that looks out onto the natural tea trees commonly found in the region. The industrial influences make for a stylish design while ensuring the kitchen is crisp, clean and uncluttered. As it’s a holiday home, keeping the kitchen low maintenance was a priority, however this certainly does not mean low functionality. Extensive inclusions such as fully integrated appliances, a scullery and double sink with extendable mixer have been incorporated into the design. There is ample preparation space and the Casaerstone benchtop in Sleek Concrete is a beautiful match with the polished concrete floors, while chrome and metal touches on the pendant lights, aluminium kickboards and Kethy handles add a sleek and modern element. The clever design and layout creates a kitchen that is light and airy, perfectly suited to a holiday home.”
