Oyster Catcher

Sabie-based athlete Carine Gagiano may not have won any of the three stages, but she ran consistently for three days for overall victory! Arnold Smit was just 32 seconds behind her, with an unlucky Nelius Swart settling for third, after taking a wrong turn in the final stage.

Some mothers catch up with their daughters over coffee and shopping; but three years ago Tanya Wörner and Clare discovered their ideal bonding session to be multi-stage trail runs. “Since turning 18, I have happily found myself beside ‘space blanket’ and ‘charged cellphone’ on a few compulsory equipment lists,” says Clare. “The hours spent on the trail from Gourikwa Nature Reserve to Mossel Bay provided the perfect setting for playful teasing, animated debate, and mutual appreciation of nature that characterise our relationship.”
