Quite often, when a café uses a chalkboard to highlight “the latest single origin from Ethiopia”, a barista will get excited at the opportunity to educate the customer on the taste profile of the coffee and the meaning of the term “single origin”, which can be simplified to a coffee sourced from a single estate.

Some cafés will offer customers an educational flavour card that describes where the single origin comes from, the terroir of the farm, its climate, altitude, and taste notes.
