COURGETTE CORNUCOPIA

Courgettes have to be one of the most prolific vegetables you can grow, easily giving you a minimum of two to three fruit per plant per week. Grow them in the garden or allotment and, if you choose the right variety, they can even be grown in pots in the backyard or on the patio or balcony. In the US they are known as zucchini and in South Africa they are referred to as ‘baby marrows’. Botanically, courgettes belong to the species Cucurbita pepo. They need to be eaten fresh as, like other summer squash, they don’t store well.
