Tributes to Adolf

Over the years, the quality of his African Outback products made him the first choice to assist in equipping many high-profile overland expeditions, including those of Kingsley Holgate, actor and motorcyclist Ewan McGregor’s and Charlie Boorman’s “The Long Way Round” world-expedition on two wheels, and Johan Badenhorst’s Voetspore team - which has been exploring the world with 4x4 vehicles for almost 20 years.

Kingsley Holgate, arguably South Africa’s most famous explorer and travelling humanitarian, who models himself on David Livingstone, has many fond memories of Adolf built up over their long friendship.

Speaking on behalf of himself and his ‘crazy bunch of adventurers,’ Holgate said: “We remember our dear friend Adolf with great respect and fondness. Not only did he assist with his engineering wizardry in supplying the Expedition Landies (Land Rovers) with specially-built equipment that was tough enough to complete several world-first humanitarian and geographic expeditions, but he was also a valued Expedition member on several occasions.
