This was almost the fate of the British comic genius Peter Sellers, one third of The Goon Show and creator of Inspector — sorry, Chief Inspector — Clouseau in the Pink Panther film franchise. It turned out to be a garden variety non-fatal heart attack. But if the world didn’t know the name of his bride — whom he’d met just 10 days earlier — it sure as hell was familiar with Britt Ekland by the end of 1964.
