    Trump Taps Brett Kavanaugh As His 2nd Supreme Court Pick

    A Washington insider with roots in politics, he believes a sitting president should be protected from litigation and criminal investigations. If confirmed, he would solidify the conservative majority.

    President Trump has chosen Brett Kavanaugh to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy. If confirmed, Trump's choice would solidify the high court's conservative majority and continue the president's push to shift the federal bench to the right.

    Trump announced his choice with a prime-time address from the White House East Room.

    "Throughout legal circles, he is considered a judge's judge, a true thought leader among his peers," Trump said of Kavanaugh. "He is a brilliant jurist with a clear and effective writing style, universally regarded as one of the finest and sharpest legal minds of our time. And just like
