A white man in Georgia has been convicted in the racist slaying of a young black man more than 34 years ago.
Franklin Gebhardt, 60, was sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 20 years this week for the brutal murder of Timothy Coggins.
On Oct. 9, 1983,, published just after Coggin's body was found — and hadn't yet been identified — indicated that Coggins had struggled with his killers and that blood stains and tire tracks were found near his body.
