She became a choreographer for a log rolling formation team, eventually moving to the United States, where her prowess earned her legendary status. She briefly teamed up with the prodigy lumberjack ‘Dangerous’ Daniel Leigh, earning her the nickname Annie Oak-Leigh.
Following a near-drowning while demonstrating a new move originated by Daniel, she gave up the sport overnight and returned to teaching. Annie moved to England in the 1960s, settled in rural Gloucestershire, and took up writing in her spare time. When her first work, a children’s book, was turned down by two publishers (now, unsurprisingly, both gone to the wall), she wrote simply for her own pleasure – and that of her pupils.visualizza meno
