He has authored and coauthored numerous publications on the archaeology of the region and has recently finished his first novel. Growing Up Jonas follows the life of a child born to an older couple. Being the youngest of four children, Jonas grows up feeling completely invisible and wanders through childhood and adolescence without the benefit of a strong parental presence to guide him. As Jonas enters adulthood, a tragic and traumatic event causes an antagonistic voice named Bruno to enter Jonas’ mind and ironically becomes the guide he lacked as a child. Jonas struggles with his own reality, drug abuse, addictions and depression and as he moves in and out of relationships he resists Bruno’s guidance as he desperately and most irrationally tries to save his failing marriage with the woman he loves. This novel delves into the complications of often, unrecognized mental illness and although at times humorous and surreal, it is a serious and revealing look into the intricacies of the human psyche.visualizza meno
