Computer Aided Instruction in Personal Computer (PC) Troubleshooting

Members: Almasco, Israel Anthony S. SE. Quiapo Daza, Kathleen Pearl B. Peones, Ralph O. San Felipe, Nio D. Adviser: Ms. Sarah Jane

Objectives:
This study aims to:

To develop a PC Troubleshooting tutorial program. To design software that will be used as an instructional material on troubleshooting. To determine the effectiveness of the proposed program.

Scope and Delimitation:

This study is conducted to make a supplemental teaching material which could enhance the students learning/knowledge. It includes lessons about computer components and modules on how to solve errors that caused the computer not to work properly. The methods and procedures are critically observed.

Scope and Delimitation:

The pointer of this study is to be able to conduct the study systematically. It directly focuses to the said material as a learning facility.

Rationale:

This project was conducted for the reason that in doing so, it will help the proponents to learn in the field of computer, specifically in troubleshooting. This study aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of the beneficiaries, as well as help them in solving problems regarding computer errors. This is because the project provides the lessons on preventive maintenance in troubleshooting. This study contains figures of the conceptual framework and system life cycle. Along with these are the specific interpretations of the said information.

Rationale:
Moreover, the researchers would also benefit from this study. The provided analysis and recommendations would allow them to conduct a more reliable study and could help in improving their research. More importantly, this study would benefit everyone, especially those who owns computers. The ensuing effects of the conducted study could help the computer owners to repair and solve any problems arises unexpectedly.

Statement of the Problem

This study attempted to teach the students on how to diagnose and make decisions about computer problems. This tutorial was made to visualize their status of learning. Specifically, it answers the following questions:

Statement of the Problem

What are the existing teaching methods in computer troubleshooting? What difficulties are encountered by instructors and students in troubleshooting in terms of methodology and learning outcome? What Computer Aided Instruction can be proposed to facilitate learning on troubleshooting and maintenance?

Significance of the Study

STUDENTS This study will add knowledge to the students. This project can also help the students to enhance their knowledge and skills in troubleshooting. It will also minimize the problems encountered during repairing or the time consumed in finding the problem of the system. COMPUTER INSTRUCTORS This will serve as a guide and an instructional medium when instructors are discussing lessons related to this study aside from using the conventional teaching material. It will also help them to expand their method of teaching.

Significance of the Study

DEPARTMENT HEAD/DEAN This project will serve as a guide and an instructional medium when discussing lessons related to this study. PARENTS This study will add and enhance knowledge to the parents. This project can also help the parents to learn troubleshooting, specifically those who have computers.

Significance of the Study

OUT OF SCHOOL YOUTH This project study can help the youth to learn a do-ityourself solution on computer problems.

RESEARCHERS The findings and recommendations of this study will serve as guide to those who will conduct study and work on the same field. Further, the result will be use improving similar studies in the future.

Definition of Terms
The following terms will be used in this study either operationally or conceptually.

Hardware physical components that constitute the computer system, such as the monitor, the keyboard, the system board, and the printer Maintenance process of keeping something in good condition

Definition of Terms
Personal Computer any generalpurpose computer whose size, capabilities, and original sales price make it useful for individuals, and which is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer operator Program a set of step-by-step instructions to a computer

Definition of Terms

Troubleshoot to isolate the source of a problem and fix it, typically through a process of elimination whereby possible sources of the problem are investigated and eliminated beginning with the most obvious or easiest problem to fix Troubleshooting the process of identifying and eliminating problems/faults especially in electronics or electronic equipment

Related Studies

The computer, more than any staff development program, journal article, or administrative mandate, has the potential to alter the environment of the classroom, and with it the role of both teacher and student (Boiarsky 47) and the computer-based community creates an atmosphere of openness and conviviality. Such an atmosphere contributes much toward truly fostering an editor-writer relationship between teacher and students as well as a peer system in which students rely on one another"

Related Studies

This article states that the computer is big help to the teacher and student. Using Computer Aided Instruction, the environment of the classroom has been change to new and easy to understand, and with interaction to the user. It is easy to learn about the troubleshooting when you create a Computer Aided Instruction because the user can get knowledge through the interaction of the computer aided instruction to the user.

Related Studies

Now in the computer classroom situated for writing, the student may assume authority of his or her write text on the screen, the instructor occupying the background--questioning, coaching, offering consultation, and observing (Sudol 334). It stated that what you seen in Computer Aided Instruction are the way to think and analyzed on how to fixed a computer by means of getting ideas on the instructional materials

RESEARCH METHOD

The researchers made use of descriptive method. This method tends to construct an information system that will provide development to the end-user if created. The method used has the capability to present new objects and invent new design and configuration.

RESEARCH METHOD

Descriptive method was used in describing facts regarding the organization and the collection of data in creating an instructional material. Descriptive Method describes the populations characteristics. Selltiz, et. al. (1979) defines it as a study where the major emphasis is on discovery of ideas and insights. computer. Computer assisted instruction (CAI) of writing is a big field and has generated a growing body of literature.

RESPONDENTS

The respondents of this research will be from the different students in the four departments, the Faculties and Instructors in the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges. The researchers will ask and provide a questionnaire to the students from College of Engineering (COE), College of Management and Entrepreneurship (CME), College of Health Care Technology (CHCT), and College of Information and Communication Technology (CICT) for the purpose of knowing whether the students, with or without computers, know how to solve problems encountered on a computer. Most of the data that will be gathered will come from the students and the rest are from the Faculties and Teacher.
