The Curriculum

It is define by the dictionary as the subjects that are included in a course of study or taught in a school, college, etc. Under the perspective that was given to us as teaching students we have seen this concept implies more than that. It is the selection of those knowledges considered as the most representative knowledges of a determined culture. Some theorists affirm that this selection is made by an hegemonic group under an arbitrery act. our discipline we have to deal with the fact that there is no oficial curriculum at a national level or its concrete manifestation a NAP, just models of it or certain lineaments to take as a reference. But some provinces, of our country, have developed their own curriculum. As an idea of the features that a curriculum should follow, thinking only in terms of contents, it might be devided between purposes and the type of work that would have to be developed to allow these purposes were reached. An example of this are the following lineaments taken from the National Administration of Curricular Manadgement and Teaching Education for the former levels of EGB and Polimodal.

PURPOSES 1. The development of spokenand written understanding and production. 2. The knowledge of the system roules of the language and written texts. 3. The gradual education of autonomous readers and the progressive command of literary dicourse. 4. The relations with the knowledge and the rispect for the differences.

TYPE OF WORK 1. The development of the four abilities: listening, reading, speaking and writing with the exposition to a graduate adult. 2. A sequential planning of items considering the diffrent linguistic levels. 3. A systematic teaching to allow the understanding and production of spoken, writen and fictional or non fictional texts. 4. Different types of work including the work in group or in pairs with diffrent levels of knowledge.

our province, the curriculum is still in construction. Some schools borrow the curriculum from other provinces like Mendoza, for instance as a reference to create their own plannig. Certain private schools produce their own features according to the vocational guidence they give.

would be profitable that the Federal Council of Education formulate a specific curriculum to our discipline and those which are without one. But it is true that it would be a good thing that schools take their chance to construct their own lineaments about what type of education they want give and for what?. Certain criteria could be followed: Teamwork. Purposes. Objectives by each level. Objectives by each grade.
