Sheol – The Underground Land of
the Dead

Subdivisions of Sheol
1. In most of the Old Testament, both virtuous and
wicked went to Sheol after death. There were no
rewards or punishments. There were only a few
exceptions such as Enoch or Elijah.
2. In the New Testament, Sheol appears to have been
subdivided into three parts.
3. Firstly Abraham's Bosom for the virtuous who died
prior to the Resurrection of Jesus
4. Secondly, Gehenna or the Lake of fire where the
wicked dead went.
5. Thirdly, the Abyss, where Satan and rebel Angels
or Demons were normally kept.
