to provide the basis for easy derivation of self-sufficiency ratio, import dependency ratio and other indices on food supply
Estimation Procedure
The following is the flow of estimation for commodity supply and utilization:
Beginning Stocks (1) Production (2)
Gross Supply 4 = (1 + 2 + 3) Exports (5) Ending Stocks (6) Net Supply Disposable 7= 4 (5 + 6) Seeds (8)

Formula:
SSR =
Interpretation of SSR
< 100 percent indicates inadequacy of production to cope with the demand of the population =100 percent indicates that food production capacity of the sector is just enough to support the food needs of the population. >100 percent indicates that domestic production is more than enough to support the domestic requirements. 100 = Self- Sufficient <100 = not Self-Sufficient

General Objective
15
Specific Objectives
To determine the present per capita consumption of rice, corn, and other basic food items; To determine the emerging consumption patterns as well as the purchasing patterns of the Filipino households; To understand the current shift in consumers preference including substitution of rice with other commodity; and, To analyze the influence of demographic and socioeconomic factors on the food consumption patterns.
