Cultivation and marketing of flowering plants, garden-bedding plants, cut flowers under suitable conditions. Consistent increase in demand for flowers for various purposes making floriculture one of the prospective businesses. In India we can get perfect climatic conditions for profitable floriculture business.

The country's share in the world trade of fresh flowers is 0.40-0.50% as compared to Netherlands 65%, Columbia 12%, Italy 6%, Israel 4 %, Kenya 1% and other countries 12%. Demand for cut flowers, especially roses, is growing tremendously in India, as more and more people are becoming aware of the beauty of flowers as decorative items. Flowers are perishable products with a limited life span. Without any life enhancing treatment, its shelf life is three days to four days maximum Investments in this sector considerably low when compared to other developed countries like Western Europe, Japan and USA.

Agricultural Promotion and Investment Corporation of Orissa Limited (APICOL) Government of Odissa extends financial assistance in shape of Capital Investment Subsidy (CIS) @ 20% of the capital cost (excluding cost of land) subject to a maximum limit of Rs. 20.00 Lacs against each Commercial Agri Enterprise. Person with technical qualification is eligible for additional 10% CIS. However, the total maximum ceiling of CIS payable to an enterprise shall not exceed Rs. 20.00 Lacs.
