VISCOUS BUCKLING OF A LIQUID COLUMN

a viscous syrup as it "piles" up on a table. The term buckling comes from the upstream bending of the liquid column.

Simulation of Microfluid Systems

Transport approach 1. Fundamental approach 2. Results in differential equations velocity, temp, conc. profiles Sometimes useful for design purpose(i.e. chemical reactor)

Rate process approach Correlations Uses averages integrated equations (overall prediction) Primarily used for design purpose

3.

4.

Not useful in turbulent Successfully used in flow systems turbulent flow systems if empirical correlations

Transport approach 5. 6. Good for process date interpretation Useful for analyzing simultaneous transport process

Rate process approach Not useful for analytical purposes Assumptions and iteration required to handle simultaneous transport process

7.

Tool for analyzing and Restricted to conventional designing new technology technology i.e. membrane, chemical vapor deposition , biotechnology
