IT INFRASTRUCTURE IN AN ORGANIZATION
The setup of an organization

Different functional units Hierarchical structure Need of interconnection and benefits withdrawn from interconnections

Production department
Uses data provided The PLC and SCADA Packaging and Storage

Previous inventory
Has its own estimations regarding raw materials ,

power & fuel, storage

Accounts department

Has capital and gives estimation to all other

departments Data outflow for only selected members Security of data very important Figures generated throughout organization is to be tallied Has maximum number of firewalls

Marketing department

High amount of liquid data A continuous flow of market updates

Advertizing and Promotion, public relationship

Sales Figures generated forwarded to central-system

Central Management

Heart of organization
Has all data, processes it and keeps ready to be utilized

by respective department Has complex firewall system to control flow of data from various departments Has firewalls within the department Does decision making by using all the data The LAN system has its HUB here

IT SECURITY
Information security means protecting information

and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, perusal, inspection, recording or destruction.

CONCEPTS IN IT SECURITY
Data encapsulation
FIREWALLS (Inter & Intra)

Data Encapsulation
In computer science, information hiding is the

principle of segregation of the design decisions in a computer program that are most likely to change, thus protecting other parts of the program from extensive modification if the design decision is changed. The protection involves providing a stable interface which protects the remainder of the program from the implementation.

Data encapsulation, also known as data hiding, is the

mechanism whereby the implementation details of a class are kept hidden from the user. The user can only perform a restricted set of operations on the hidden members of the class by executing special functions commonly called methods. Public Private

FIREWALL

What is a Firewall?

A choke point of control and monitoring Interconnects networks with differing trust Imposes restrictions on network services only authorized traffic is allowed Auditing and controlling access can implement alarms for abnormal behavior Itself immune to penetration Provides perimeter defence

INTER & INTRA FIREWALL

With the global Internet connection, network security

has gained significant attention in research and industrial communities. Due to the increasing threat of network attacks, firewalls have become important elements not only in enterprise networks but also in small-size networks. There arises concept of intra and inter firewall systems

INTRA FIREWALL
With in the organization in department wise firewall which protect data from other department.

Eg. Finance department which does not share its data with other departments

INTER FIREWALL SYSTEM

Inter firewall is the firewall with in different

organization for data security.

Eg. In joint venture between two organization.

Local Area Network
Wide Area Network The Public Switched Telephone Network How organization utilizes them at different levels

DATA CENTER
A data center is a facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems
Back up Power Supplies Data Communication Connections Environmental Controls(Air conditioning, Fire

suppression) Security Devices

DATA CENTER DESIGN

Main Switch Board
Power Load Distribution Center Server racks Precision Air Conditioner Uninterruptible Power Supply Backup Generator

Applications of Data center

Business Continuity planning Data Storage and Maintenance. The data stored used for future references Avoids cluttering of irrelevant data Single entity dedicated

OUTSOURCING
Relocation of a Business Process from one country to

anothertypically an operational process, such as manufacturing, or supporting processes, such as accounting.

Benefits of Outsourcing
Helps in handling complicated workload Present task can be performed perfectly Delegation of selected tasks to dedicated groups increases speed of data processing

IT-enabled Services outsourcing

Company's outsourcing of computer or Internet

related work, such as programming, to other companies BPO Does not require much of technical skills

An ODC is made up of a dedicated team of programmers and

developers who have been hand picked to complement the customer's skill set and culture.
Offshore development center (ODC) is one of the business model by

which a provision of offshore development is undertaken.

ODC not only reflects splendid efforts and superb technical skills but

also trust, compatibility, mutual respect and understanding between the service provider and the client, upon which the success of offshore development center depends.
