Introduction to cloud computing

Presented By: Mangesh Pandure Harita Kokare Nikhil Raje Paresh Kushwaha Reshma Jhamtani

What is cloud computing ?

Cloud Computing is a style of computing which caters following computing needs. 1. Dynamism 2. Abstraction 3. Resource Sharing 4. Version Support

What are Cloud Stacks?

Cloud Services can be divided into 3* stacks : 1. Infrastructure-as-a-Service: IaaS 2. Platform-as-a-Service: PaaS

3. Software-as-a-Service: SaaS

Cloud Architecture

Why Cloud Computing?

Fast Application Deployment Hassle Free Maintenance Better Resources Utilization Platform Independent, Security, Scalability

Private Cloud

Private cloud is infrastructure operated solely for a

single organisation, whether managed internally or by a third-party and hosted internally or externally. Examples : 1. VMWare 2. Citrix

Public Cloud
The main benefits of using a public cloud service are: Resource Sharing Costs Saving

Multiple software support

Examples of public clouds include : IBM's Blue Cloud, Sun Cloud, Google AppEngine and Windows Azure Services Platform.

Hybrid Cloud

A hybrid cloud is a composition of at least one private cloud and at least one public cloud. A hybrid cloud is typically offered in one of two ways: a vendor has a private cloud and forms a partnership with a public cloud provider, or a public cloud provider forms a partnership with a vendor that

provides private cloud platforms.

Example : Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)

IBM (Cloud computing service provider)

Ranked as #3 service provider in 2011 IBM reportedly earned $30 million in cloud revenue in 2010 Inside-out approach

Offer organization real, hands-on experience in implementing cloud technology and services across public and private cloud environments.

CONCLUSIONS
Cloud computing can give a significant business advantage! To make Cloud Computing successful : Understand the risks involved An adaptive architecture, including a new business model must be developed to retrieve new business value Organizational changes are needed for adapting the technology (procedures, skills, business model) Understand the technology used by your CSP (Cloud Service Provider) Formulate and maintain an exit procedure to change from CSP.
