presents with depressed mood, loss of interest
or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth,
disturbed sleep or appetite, low energy, and
poor concentration

Psychology believe that children and adolescents
were incapable of experiencing depression
• Mental health problems affect one in every 5 young
people at a given time

are viewed as normal mood swings of a development
