About HMT
Dr. S.M. Patel started HMT limited as a HINDUSTAN

Machine Tools Ltd. in 7th February 1953.

The first product produced by machine tools was H22

lathe.

Hindustan machine tools ltd Bangalore is one of the

major machine tool factory in India, it is located at Bangalore it has branch into 16 factories 24 division and 29000 employee s in 10 different states.

and infrastructure of a diversified range of products has incorporated HMT machine tool ltd as its fully owned subsidiary on 9th august 1999. HMT machine tools ltd is a multi- unit, multi-location, multi-technology company manufacturing a wide variety of STATE-OF THE-ART machine tools. HMT machine tools ltd has its manufacturing units at 5 location, with each unit specialized in a particular family of machines. The sales and service network is spread across the length and breadth of the country.

All the manufacturing units of HMT machine tools

are ISO 9001 certified. HMT factory which is located in Bangalore it covers area of 103 acres, colony area 278 acres, industrial area 22 acres. Totally it occupies 403 acres. HMT is giving benefits other than salary to teir employees like, medical benefits, canteen facilities, conveyance allowance, education facilities, ets.

Statement of the problem:


The success and failure of any organization is very

much influenced by the motivation provided by the company to its organization. Any organization enterprise needs a fully active employee power which is motive not only for their own improvement but also for the improvement of the organization. Indus has failed the recent times to motive its employees.

Objective of the study:


To determine the progress of the company and to

ascertain the future prospects of the company. To know from the employees about their expectations from the company. To find out the level of activity or the operating efficiency of the company. To study the extent of influence of different motivational factors on the productivity of the company.

Problem Conclusion:
It was found that the salaries of all the employees are not

revised from the past fifteen years. They are finding it very difficult to manage the day to day activities with the same wages and salaries. The company has not got enough funds from the Government and it is in a mode now, due to this reason they are withdrawing many of the facilities which they earlier used to provide. Such as paid travel leave once in two years outside the state has been cancelled now and the menu in the canteen has been reduced. The employees are not trained with multi-skilled activities due to which the idle time in the production department is too large. There is no cooperation between the employees and the top level management and there is a large influence of trade unions on the employees because of which most of the employees go on a short strike without notice.
