CHARACTERISTICS
Relates to the significant delays in a student from the aspect of physical development, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and social compared with existing norms for each age level. it is a norm for a child to have late development in certain area from birth to 6 years old. There are children suffer from global late development. [down syndrome, x fragile syndrome]

GENETIC
Children born with genetic or chromosomes abnormalities. Example: syndrome down
ENVIRONMENT
Due to the exposure to harmful agents before and after birth such as lead, drugs, alcohol, pregnant mothers diet, infection from mother in pregnancy (HIV), ,measles, premature birth, poor family, etc.
EXAMPLES:
Problem of late development Late in language and speech Reason of occurrence -Excessive exposure to more than 1 language -Unabilities in learning -Hearing loss due to serious infections in the middle area of ear. -Due to institutionalisation -Lack of stimulation since small -Abandoned by parents or guardians during physical development -autism

STRATEGIES INVOLVED IN HELPING PUPILS WITH LATE DEVELOPMENT PROBLEM IN THE CLASSROOM
Put more interactions with them, stimulate them to communicate through sharing information and personal experiences. Use singing technique in teaching and learning process Do more read aloud activity Give opportunity to talk infront of classmates. Improve the usage of language and speech
Put more activities that require the usage of gross muscles and fine muscles Do more class activities Teach and gives practice based on personal skills that focus on the care and self management Teach and give practice on how to use social skill in the classroom, including the types of effective communication.
