DEFINITION
Soldering:
Soldering is the metallurgical joining process of making a metallic bond between two metal surfaces to be joined with a filler material (called solder) which applied in liquid form establishes the joint when solidified.
11
12
Step1.eg.ADD ANY COMPONENT (example shown is a resistor) by pushing the wires through the holes you have drilled in your PCB.
13
Bend over all of the wires that were not going to solder now.
14
CLEAN THE POINT OF THE IRON - take away any dirt on a damp (not soaking wet) sponge when the iron is heated up.
15
TIN THE IRON. This just means you should melt a tiny bit of solder onto the point.
HEAT YOUR COPPER TRACK by holding the irons point on it for 3 seconds.
If you heat it for too long, the track will burn away. If you dont heat it for long enough, the solder will not stick.
17
TOUCH THE SOLDER WIRE ONTO THE TRACK and heat it quickly from above with the iron.
18
LIQUIFY JUST ENOUGH SOLDER TO MAKE THE JOIN and then pull the iron away.
Your join should look something like this one. You should only need a small amount of solder for each join.
19
20
21
Defects in soldering
Some of the common solder joint defects are :Cold joint Fractured joint Pitted or porous joint Flux/solder splatters Contaminated joint Pin holes/ blow holes Overheated joint Improperly bonded joint Excessive/ less solder joint Rosin joint
A COLD JOINT
22
1. Once the convertors or any other instrument is ready with all components mounted and soldered properly ,there must be a through checking of the device which when performed with a positive result will let you mark O.K..
2. The checking procedures manually keep a closed look at what IC are doing. I.C. mounting and pin voltage are being checked.
23
TYPES OF TESTING
Beat Test Line variation Test High voltage Test Heat Test It is calibrated in the required range with the help of pots(variable resistors) zero(for minimum reading) and span(for maximum reading).
24
This software is new version of OCARD software. This is EDA- client 3.2 software for drafting of PCB circuit. Most designs today are built on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), which consist of multiple layers of electrical copper and insulating material sandwiched together. Several Electronic Design Applications (EDA) exist to both create schematics of a circuit and transfer them to a working PCB layout. PROTEL is one of those software.
