Interpersonal communication is a complex process that is unique from other forms of communication, such as  Intrapersonal,  Small group,  Organizational,  Mass,  Public. In Olden days, the linear model, says that communication is a one-way process in which a sender transmits a message to a receiver.

Interpersonal communication is the

communication that takes place between people who are in some way connected. Interpersonal communication would thus include what takes place between a son and his father, an employer and an employee, two sisters, a teacher and a student,two friends, and so on.

Skills of Interpersonal Communication


Clarify any issues that the participant

finds confusing. each role play.

immediate feedback such as the opportunity to ask questions when the meaning is not entirely clear. see whether if the instruction is clear or has created confusion. and easily adaptable to many diverse situations.

can result in misunderstanding and wrong responses. Communication is influenced by both verbal and non-verbal communication such as tone or body language which may skew the meaning of your message in the mind of the receiver.

Step 1: Address People By Their Names. Step 2: Be More Relatable. Step 3: Be Appreciative.

Step 4 : Focus on the Positive - People have a tendency to believe and remember negative feedback more than the positive, but a little bit of negative feedback can go wrong way Step 5 : Use a friendly tone to show you are trying to understand. Step 6 : USE SILENCE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE - A bit of silence may also encourage the speaker to give you more information.

The Sender

receiver by nodding their head, making eye contact, etc.

 Acquiring the skills of good communication is not

difficult. Using them when it really matters is the difficult part. To help, there are several things you can keep in mind.
 It takes two sets of skills, which expressive and

listening skills, to give and get information. Thus the Interpersonal communication concludes.
