There are nine planets in our Solar
System.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
and Pluto.
The sun is the hottest and brightest in the
sky.
The sun is a star and can fit over 1 million
earths on it. People used to think that
there was 2 men and 2 horses and they
pulled the sun around the Earth but Earth
actually orbits the sun.
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun.
It is made of rock and has many craters
on it.
It is hot in the day and freezing at night.
Venus is the 2nd planet from the sun. It is very
hot and is made of rock. Venus has lots of
mountains, volcanoes and craters on it.
Earth is the third planet from the sun
and is the only planet with life on it.
It s made of rock and has oceans full of
water on it.
Earth has one moon.
The moon travels around once every 27th
Earth day.
The moon is made of rock and has many
craters on it.
The moon can have all different shadows
But it is stile like a planet.
 Mars is the 4th planet from the sun.
It made of reddish-coloured rock.
Mars has to moons called Phobos and
Deimos. If you are on Mars the sky is
pale pink.
 Jupiter is the 5th planet from the sun
and is the biggest planet.
Jupiter is made of rock and gas.
Jupiter has a red spot on it which is a
storm that has been on for over 3000
Earth years.
Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun and
is the 2nd biggest planet.
Saturn has 7 rings around it.
The rings are made of ice and rock.
Each peace of ice and rock is the size
of a 2 story house.
 Uranus is the 7th planet from the sun
and is the 3rd biggest planet

Neptune is the 8th planet from the sun and is
the 4th biggest planet.
A day on Neptune is 16 hours.
Neptune is the colour blue.

Pluto is the 9th planet from the sun and is
the smallest planet.
Pluto is so small that scientists call it a
dwarf planet.
It is made of rock and has craters on it.
There are a lot of Star Constellations
in the night sky.
Big Bear, Big Dog, Small Dog, Southern
Cross, Orion, Scorpius, Taurus and
Zodiac.
 The Big Dog is called Canis Major.
It is made up of 13 small stars and 1 big
star.
The Big Bear is made up of 24 stars.
The Southern Cross is made up of 4 big
stars and 1 small star.
Orion the hunter is a Star Consolation.
People used to tell stories about him.
