Introduction

In our initial stage of schooling we were taught that Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people. Today in the current scenario of India, we can see that Democracy is government of and by the people but not for the people. Just for the government and their associates, not for the common person who are suffering today. Today still India is developing country and we still cannot compare with the developed nation like USA / UK, not even 5%. 70% for this credit goes to Government and 30% to the people. India Through last few Years has developed in many ways as well as deteriorated in its various aspects due to those achievements. But still it has lots n lots to achieve as regards to the welfare of the common people and for their survival, otherwise it would be a threat to all those people residing over here.

The Incredible India

1.

India is a country of remarkable contrasts. It has one of the world's fastest growing economies, continuing to vie with other developing nations to become a focus of world trade and commerce. Over the past five years the number of millionaires in India has grown in excess of 15% each year. However, poverty is still prevalent and the country struggles with many other issues and problems. There is a strong and lingering legacy through India's caste system, a dominance of national religion in politics and superstition and fear amongst remote rural communities and villages where many are still in the grip of witchcraft. Nevertheless, India has leaped into the foreground as one of the most important players in the world economy, influencing and effecting events around the globe. India is home to 1.028 billion people, making it the world's second most populated country after China.
ICAI 8

The Incredible India

2.
One out of every six people on earth lives in India. 45.5% of India's people are under 20 years of age. Poverty in India's slums and rural villages is among the worst in the world. A third of the population survive on less than 50 pence per day. 1 in 3 adults cannot read or write. (Literacy experts believe closer to 70% of Indians are functionally illiterate.) India contains one fourth (412 million) of the 1.6 billion people on earth who never heard about Jesus or what the Bible says. Incredible India still has many needs. This is where India looks to help!

India Today in Brief

3. The diverse economy of India encompasses traditional village farming, modern

agriculture, handicrafts, a wide range of modern industries and a multitude of services. With the largest area of arable land, India is one of the worlds biggest food producers. It is the largest producer of milk, sugarcane and tea as well as the second largest producer of rice, fruit and vegetables. India's pool of technical manpower base with an increasing disposable income and its burgeoning market have all combined to enable India emerge as a viable partner to global industry. It is the preferred hotspot for organizations keen to outsource their R & D activities, software development work, customer contact centers or IT enabled business processes. The top sectors attracting highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into the country are:- electrical equipments, services sector (financial and non financial), telecommunications, transportation industry, fuels, chemicals, construction activities, drugs and pharmaceuticals, food processing, cement and gypsum products. Huge investment potential exists in the upcoming Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) sector and the real estate industry.
ICAI 11

India Today in Brief

4. The Government of India is making all efforts to supplement all such advantages of the country. It has made infrastructure development as one of the key area of focus. Sound and effective connectivity via rail, road, ports and air, between the Indian States and with the rest of the world, is a necessity. Along with this, efficient power supply and excellent telecommunication network plays a very important role in the country's development. Accordingly, the Government has undertaken several policy measures and incentives to attract investors into the country and provide a good quality of life to the people. Thus, India is one of the few markets in the world which offers high prospects for growth and earning potential in practically all areas of business, particularly in tourism, information technology (IT) and agricultural sector. There exists immense investment opportunities both at the national level and the State level.

Poverty Population Politics Corruption Unemployment Pollution Illiteracy Rate Exploitation Child labour Uneven distribution of cash
ICAI 13

Poverty, a devastating evil in India

The phenomenal increase in the city populations is the main reason for poverty in the urban areas of India.

Poverty in India is reducing but it is still a

major issue. Rural Indians depend on unpredictable agriculture incomes, while urban Indians rely on jobs that are, at best, scarce.
The division of resources, as well as wealth, is very uneven in India this disparity creates different poverty ratios for different states. For instance, states such as Delhi and Punjab have very low poverty ratios. On the other hand, 40-50% of the populations in Bihar and Orissa live below the poverty line.
ICAI 14

Population, a perennial problem

It Ranks 2nd position in the world after China.

Population is one of the

devastating evil in India due to which India has suffered a tremendous impact. The Ninth Plan projects a decline in the population growth rate to 1.59 per cent per annum by the end of the Ninth Plan, from over 2 per cent in the last three decades.

ICAI

15

Politics

India is a democratic country with one man one Vote. Every Individual has right to vote. But Now a days politics has become a big business for every individual becoming a sort of game of dice. Every Politician wants to gain his own profit rather than public welfare. Each political party before the election gives a series of promises but as soon as they get the throne they try to misuse their power and forget those promises. Nowadays through media television a lot of comment is try to be given like

ICAI

16

Corruption

The basic outcome of all the evils..

In India, corruption is something we all learn to live with. But wait! We need not be resigned to it or cynical. Instead of breast-beating over the sorry state of affairs, let's explore the solutions. Corruption that is all around us, omnipresent, almost like a distorted, antithetical version of God for the New Millennium." If there is corruption in society, each one of us is responsible. It is wrong to blame the system. Why do we separate ourselves from the system? Don't we vote the corrupt to power? Don't we endlessly suffer from all deprivations and refuse to raise our voice? And then when it becomes too much, we crib." Bribery in today's life can influence every individual and we strictly need to have a pause on it. Corruption thrives on opacity. Thus presently we need to stop all the related evils to stop the corruption.
ICAI 17

Unemployment

Unemployment is a deadly evil following in India.

Unemployment has made India to come to a situation

of boom. Due to tremendous population, there is a shortage of employment opportunities. But now In today's Scenario, it has taken Proper measures To reduce the population and to create more employment opportunities so as to earn a better standard of living and to make ones future bright.

ICAI

18

Uneven Distribution of cash

We, the human beings, all are the creatures of same God. When God had not distinguished between us, then who the hell are we to differentiate. The only aspect by which an individual distinguishes the other, or looks upon the other is through MONEY". In India presently Ambanis are also staying as well as poor people lives. Both of them are same, but the only distinguishable character is wealth which leads to evil in the minds of the poor man. Presently in India this evil is continuously followed which is leading to theft, robbery, and other evils. Thus, we can say that the poor people are being ruled by the richer one which is not fair and just. One side a person is not getting the basic needs and the other side people is living a luxurious life.

ICAI

19

Child Labour

In India child labour is very common and this system is being followed by several years. Parents doesn't want their child to send them to School and always want a some source of earning for their family. They even forget about the future of their children and engage them for work.

ICAI

20

Pollution

A dangerous threat to India which can bring an end to it. Proper measures has been taken care of in the present scenario but it needs further recruitment so as to save our environment.

ICAI

21

xploitation
In India Exploitation takes place tremendously like in that of Women exploitation. Previously here the level of it was very much higher as compared to present situation.like the female was not demanded by the parents just because they couldn't help their family to earn and dowry system was also followed by it.

ICAI

22

Uneducation & Illiteracy

Education, one of the initial way through development. Indian Government has presently implemented certains rules relating to the compulsion of the education of every child, no matter it be a male or female. Presently in India, Kerela has the Highest Literacy rate and Bihar is the most illiterate state.

ICAI

23

Problems need to be rectified or taken care by the Government..

1. Today the problem with our nation is that rich people are getting richer and richer and the

poor people are becoming poorer and poorer. 2. We can see that poor children are working instead of studies. Moreover there are many beggars around us who has proper hands and legs, but still they like to beg and survive. 3. Today an Individual can easily get Duplicate certificates. But this should be properly taken care of. 4. Even Traffic police accepts bribes and dont give receipts. This is a huge loss to our revenue. 5. No laws follows for people belonging to high class. And all of them apply to common people. Some of the Examples are Sanjay Dutt/ Salman Khan/ Rahul Mahajan/Raj Thackray etc.. They are freely roaming around without any hindrance.
ICAI 24

Problems need to be rectified or taken care by the Government..

6. India is not progressing because there is no unity among (us), the Indians. 7. There should be cleanliness. Its our responsibility to maintain the cleanliness. Before doing anything (spitting/throwing waste in mid of road etc.) we should think that will I do the same thing in my home too? Today we are famous in whole world just because we are hardworking. And we are the only one who inspite of being educated is presently unemployed because of tremendous population. The rickshaw/Taxi driver charges more to foreigners. They can alter meter and even after complaining nothing happens. The police arrives at situation after the scene is completed. There should be cameras installed at most of the traffic signals so that if we want to catch somebody we can easily do that.
ICAI 25

Problems need to be rectified or taken care by the Government..

12. We are much dependent on USA. Is there any talent problem in India? We people like/prefer to work in USA and not in India. 13. The govt. doesn't fulfils all the promises that they make even before when they are chosen. 14. The bus conductor behaves rudely with a person who is not well dressed or came after doing some hard work (e.g. Carpenter/Plumber)! 15. There are so many crimes only in India. Where are the laws and justice? 16. The road qualities are not good due to which many accidents occurs. There are so many nullas without lid on it. 17. The contract passes to people who are useless and uses low quality goods of building/road instead of what he is paid for. 18. The Govt. has done nothing in order to recover tax from business professionals.
ICAI 26

Problems need to be rectified or taken care by the Government..

19. No one knows where Indias money collected from tax goes when we cannot see any

progress of the country! 20. We know one thing that if the root of the tree is strong then the tree will be strong i.e. if the Govt. is strong enough, has powers then only whole country will be strong and will be successful. 21. Also we should know that nobody is perfect, but together united we can be.

Current state of Indian Economy

The current scenario of Indian economy has been characterized by optimistic growth and strong macroeconomic fundamentals, particularly with tangible progress towards fiscal consolidation and a strong balance of payments position. Gross Domestic Product (GDP), at current market prices, is projected at Rs. 46,93,602 crore in 2007-08 by the Central Statistical Organization (CSO) in its advance estimates (AE) of GDP. While, the GDP at factor cost, at constant 1999-2000 prices, is projected to grow at 8.7 per cent in 2007-08. The industrial sector has witnessed a moderate slowdown in the growth during the first eight months of the current fiscal, till November 2007. The growth achieved, during April-November 2007, by the industrial sectors has been 9.2 per cent. The capital goods have grown at an accelerated pace, over a high base attained in the previous years, which augurs well for the required industrial capacity addition. While, the consumer durables showed a negative growth during the period, thereby forcing a visible decline in the growth of the total consumer goods basket, despite reasonable growth in the nondurables. India's telecom sector has been one of the biggest success stories of market oriented reforms. The infrastructure sector has been expanding on a massive scale.
ICAI 34

Current state of Indian Economy

The monetary sector also continues to be growing at a sustainable rate during 2007-08 to serve the twin objectives of managing the transition to a higher growth path and containing inflationary pressures. net foreign exchange assets (NFA) of the RBI, on year-on-year basis as on January 4, 2008, expanded by 39.1 per cent as against 26.1 per cent on the corresponding date of the previous year. In the secondary market segment, the market activity expanded further during 2007-08 with BSE and NSE indices scaling new peaks of 21,000 and 6,300, respectively, in January 2008. Progress in fiscal consolidation has been satisfactory in the post-Fiscal Reforms and Budget Management Act (FRBMA) period. India's external economic environment continued to be supportive with the invisible account remaining strong and stable capital flows. As a proportion of total capital flows and on a net basis, foreign investment has shown a mixed trend in the current year

INDIA OFFERS HUGE SCOPE FOR BUSINESS IN ENERGY SERVICE & EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURE

Today invited energy service, equipment and appliance manufacturing companies from the SAARC region and the rest of the world to exploit the huge commercial opportunities being thrown up by Indias electricity sector.
Inaugurating the two-day conference on Emerging Investment Opportunities in the South Asian Power Sector, organized jointly by FICCI, South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy, USAID and the SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), It is said: We need more than just one manufacturer for the manufacture of equipment such as turbines and boilers, especially for the units of the size of ultra mega power projects. We have therefore established a manufacturing arm of NTPC that will address the issue.

ICAI

36
