Introduction
For centuries, Deaf and mute people had to undergo the treatment of being viewed as incomplete because of their absence of hearing. Some people mock Signing in front of Deaf people.

Or tell them how sorry they are that they can't hear the birds singing or the phone ringing.
The main challenges that they face is little access to education and almost no opportunity for gainful employment. Not just on the academic front, but also on the emotional front, they face numerous problems in their life.

About Samarpan
SAMARPAN- Muk badhir vidhyalaya was established in 1987 by Sarswati Education Charitable Trust. The foundation has been setup to raise funds for charity work to be carried out to empower disabled children. The foundation focuses on making a difference in the lives of children who are deaf and dumb through educating them. The main aim of the school and the trust is to educate the deaf and the mute children and to make them self reliant.

The organization intends to help children who have been rejected by society and help them grow into confident, educated adolescents and young adults. Initially it started off with the primary education then later in 2002 it went ahead and started High school education for these children. At present there are 2 branches of the school. The main is in Gandhinagar and the other is in Motera. The total number of students is 235 in all. The school follows the same curriculum that the Gujarat Government in general.

The Institute relies on Government grants and Donations.

No fees or expenses are taken from the children who come to study in this institute.
Lodging-boarding clothes, medical aid is also given to all the children who comes.

The government has also given 13 units of cha type Government Quarters in Sector-28 to this institute.

The students are provided with breakfast in the morning, followed by lunch in the afternoon (as a part of Mid-day Meal) followed by dinner.

Classroom sessions

Activities other than studies

Along with the studies, various cultural activities are also being taken for the all-round development of the students. Some of the students also have won awards in the drawing competitions that have been held at national level.

Students are also have sports sessions and an annual sports day.

The students are also given YOGA sessions.


Not only as an exercise, but taught to be taken as a profession.

The institution gives various training programmes like drawing, painting, book-biding, papers-box, manufacturing chalks, files, offset printing, computer training etc. A printing press has been started from the funds of Rs.94000 received from Gujarat insecticide company ltd with the help of State bank of India.

They are running a binding section with help of Gujarat mineral development corporation, business of making paper boxes have been started.

Advanced embroidery machines have been bought from the donation given by Anand motors Gandhinagar for teaching embroidery work.

Other Activities of Trust


The trust also arranges marriages (SAMUH LAGNA) for the deaf and mute community once in every 2 years. The trust also carries out several other activities like, tree plantation, eye donation, and also donations for the other needy classes of the society.

The trust also carried out a donation camp for the physically challenged people where they donated wheel-chairs.

Funds and Finances


The trust completely relies on the grant received from the government and the donations that it receives from the people in general.
They also accept food grains from the villages as a part of donation. The school also offers the general public to adopt kids and bear their yearly or monthly expense.

Findings and Conclusion


The trust is working hard for the betterment of the disabled children. They not only provide them the basic education but also they make an extra effort to make them self reliant by providing them training in embroidery and printing. They also carryout campaigns like Save tree, Tree Plantation, Eye donation and donations for others.

The Government also plays a vital role in the progress of this institute, as it provides the necessary aid in the form of grants and lodging and boarding facilities. The society in general also helps the school in the form of providing them donations and other necessary items for the children and the school as donations.

Suggestions

More of advertisement so as to make more people aware of the good deeds of the institution and could attract more of donations. They also could try for providing better courses or training for improving the chances of their getting a job.
